The crowd density during artists like Excision and Subtronics had been wild to try and navigate. Instead of hoping texts would go through, I used the compass and walked straight to my friends who were in the heart of the crowd during Subtronics. It took maybe two minutes.
That’s an awesome example of it doing exactly what it’s meant to do. Navigating crowds like Excision or Subtronics without relying on spotty texts is no small feat, and we’re glad Crowd Compass helped you get straight to your friends in just a couple minutes.
Lost Lands can feel overwhelming if you lose your people, but the Crowd Compass gave me a complete peace of mind mentality. Being able to roam, catch different sets, do side quests, and still find everyone again made the whole weekend smoother!
That peace-of-mind mindset is exactly what we want Crowd Compass to provide. Being able to roam, chase side quests, and still reconnect without stress makes a huge difference at a festival like Lost Lands. We’re really glad it helped make your weekend smoother and more enjoyable.
At one point, two of us split off to catch Layz while the rest of the group stayed back. Normally that would've meant missing each other for the rest of the night, but the Crowd Compass made it easy to link back up after the set. By far made things way easier!
Love hearing this. Being able to split up for different sets and still link back up without the usual stress is exactly what Crowd Compass is built for. We’re glad it made reconnecting after Layz easy and helped keep the night flowing.
The range just wasn't enough given the size of the festival. I saw about 0.7mi range in open playa, and about 900 ft range in the city. Actual range probably slightly higher, as we were moving apart at the time, and they only send pings every so often? I also basically only needed to use them twice, the first time to watch someone heading back to camp and returning to us, and for that it was useful since they knew our general location, but the second time of trying to find someone in the city where I didn't know where they were, it wasn't really useful. Not sure if there weren't enough people with compasses there, or if there was just too much interference from other tech on the frequencies (meshtastic etc?).
Thanks for sharing such detailed feedback from Burning Man. We appreciate you calling out how the range performed in both open playa and the city, and how it was helpful in scenarios where you had a general sense of someone’s location. We’re actively learning from experiences like this to better understand performance in large, high-interference environments and to continue improving how Crowd Compass supports finding people in challenging conditions.
We used Crowd Compass for EDCLV and they worked well! Definitely play around with anything before you use them at a festival, I suggest a hide and seek with them to learn the quirks. Battery life was great for the long days. We really wanted something to be able to track if we didn't have cell service or someone lost a phone. These do exactly that!
Thanks for sharing your experience at EDC Las Vegas! We’re glad to hear Crowd Compass worked well for your group, especially with strong battery life and reliable tracking when cell service wasn’t an option. We appreciate the tip about testing them ahead of time, and we’re happy they gave you peace of mind during those long festival days.
I was the only person in my group with the crowd compass app (bc they're lame and they didn't believe in it). Guess what? Didn't even matter. We didn't lose anyone the whole night, and we split up more times than we can count. GPS isn't perfect, but since it comes to ~20 ft range, finding each other was easy enough.
There are some things I would change, but overall it's a great product. Lemme just say, I didn't struggle nearly as much as some people who had the competing company at Niteharts
Thanks for the laugh and for sharing your experience! We’re glad Crowd Compass helped keep your group together all night, even with just one person using the app, and that the accuracy made reconnecting easy. We appreciate the honest feedback on where we can improve, and it’s great to hear Crowd Compass made a real difference compared to other options out there.
These are amazing!!! I bought them for EDC LV last year and was looking for one of a few groups of friends that were there to loan them one of them. I searched for a good 45 minutes but couldn't find them and found myself alone at a festival with 500,000 attendees. Under normal circumstances I would never have been able to find my friends because there is no cell service out there and I had no idea where they were. Thanks to my compass and the app on the phone I was able to use the compass as well as the interactive map on the app to find my friends in about 5-10 minutes on the other side of the festival. The look of surprise on my crews face when I casually just walked up out of the crowd was 100% worth it! Great product and very easy to use.
Thanks so much for sharing this, what an awesome EDC story! We’re thrilled Crowd Compass helped you reconnect so quickly in such a massive crowd, especially without cell service, and that the app and interactive map made it easy to navigate. Moments like that (and the surprise on your friends’ faces 😄) are exactly why we built Crowd Compass.
I've been using it since early November and they've helped tons
Thanks for the love! We’re so glad to hear your Crowd Compasses have been helpful and that you’ve been getting a lot of value out of them since November. We appreciate you being part of the Crowd Compass community and are always here if you need anything.
definitely recommend this product! such amazinf customer service! they didnt have the option to ship to New Zealand however when i sent them a message they said they could sort out the shipping for me which they did! i was super worried they wouldnt turn up in time being so far away and i wanted them before xmas, however they turned up much earlier than expected. thank u so much super happy with my compasses!
So happy to hear this! We’re glad we could work out shipping to New Zealand and get your compasses to you well before Christmas. It means a lot to know our customer service helped put you at ease, and we’re thrilled you’re loving your Crowd Compasses.
We bought four Crowd Compasses to be able to track our friends in poor cell service or lost phone situations. Out of the box, there is some set up and learning of the product you need to do before you roll out with them the first time. Once you do a weekend with them, they are easy to use and pretty accurate. Definitely recommend calibrating in the venue/area you plan to use them before you go in. That helped a bunch on the final day of EDCLV and they worked flawlessly. There is a delay in position updates, we noticed about 30 seconds. When tracking someone, it helps to walk a bit and pause periodically to let the devices sync. Covered all of EDCLV without maxing out the range finder. Love that you can pair unlimited devices! Battery life with generic batteries easily lasted 12 hours and only got down to about 45%. All in all, these were a game-changer for our festival experience, and we’ll definitely be recommending them to friends and fellow festival-goers.
Thanks for the thoughtful and detailed review! We’re glad to hear Crowd Compass made finding friends easier at EDCLV, especially in low cell service situations, and that calibration and pairing multiple devices worked well for your group. We really appreciate you sharing your tips and observations, and we’re excited to hear they were a game-changer for your festival experience.
Bro I had to reach out I've been so busy with work but the compasses worked incredibly well at Lost Lands! Like the range was amazing and I was able to find my other group members everytime :) so much love this thing was amazing!!!
Love hearing this, thank you for taking the time to reach out! We’re so glad Crowd Compass worked incredibly well for you at Lost Lands and that the range made it easy to find your group every time. Really appreciate the love, and we’re thrilled it made such a difference for your experience!
Lost lands with the help of crowd compass was flawless when locating my friend. Even in the most crowded areas I was able to locate them with ease. Got the chance to play some games of hide and seek with my other camp mates to show them the device and what it could do. They were really surprised how easy it was setup/ use. I found myself having to keep track of my crowd compass due to them wanting to use it so much. Without crowd compass my lost land experience would have not been amazing.
Love hearing this! We’re glad Crowd Compass made it easy to locate friends at Lost Lands, even in the most crowded areas, and that setup and use were a hit with your camp mates. It’s awesome to hear it became such a go-to tool, and we’re thrilled it helped make your festival experience unforgettable.
The Crowd Compass is the perfect combination of simplicity and functionality to keep you and your friends connected. I used this at Burning Man and was able to easily find friends in the middle of the crowd of tens of thousands of people. Highly recommend!
So glad to hear Crowd Compass struck that balance for you! Being able to easily find friends in the middle of a massive Burning Man crowd is exactly what it’s built for. We appreciate the recommendation and love knowing it helped keep your group connected.
Finding your extroverts has never been easier. More ethical than secrete air tags, cooler than giant hats, and you don’t even need to be the “tall” guy to find your way.
This made us smile 😄 Finding your extroverts shouldn’t require giant hats or secret trackers, and we’re glad Crowd Compass made it easy (and ethical). Love hearing how it helped you navigate the chaos and keep the crew together.
these are now working magically well. Ty for the troubleshooting. Alas, after 7hours in 80*f the flesh is now spongy and weak. Battery life is fantastic!
Glad to hear everything is working smoothly now! Happy the troubleshooting helped and that Crowd Compass performed well during such a long, warm Ren Faire day. Strong battery life and reliable performance are exactly what we aim for, hope your hands recover quickly too 😄
First, really fast shipping.
Secondly, took these to warped tour Long Beach and they worked perfectly. Easy set up and paring. Was able to easily locate my partner when we would split up
Never struggled to find my so from across the grounds.
Fast shipping and flawless festival performance is what we love to hear. We’re glad setup and pairing were easy and that Crowd Compass made it simple to find each other across the Warped Tour grounds. Sounds like it took the stress out of splitting up so you could just enjoy the day.
Very sturdy and offers amazing protection
Glad to hear the case is delivering on durability and protection. We designed it to keep your Crowd Compass safe in demanding environments, so it’s great to know it’s doing its job.
Didn't work that well
Sorry to hear it didn’t work as well as expected. We know how important reliability is, especially in the moments you’re counting on it most, and we’d love to learn more about what didn’t work for you. If you’re open to it, reaching out to our support team will help us see how we can improve your experience.
Love it
Love hearing that! We’re glad Crowd Compass is working well for you and appreciate you being part of the community.
Location tracking was great, especially when using the app. Our group split into droid and iOS users. The droid users weren't really checking their devices, put them in their backpacks, and didn't really check their phones so it was a bit of a pain to try to find them.
Completely different story for our iOS group. We all had used the messages to meet up, find each other, and generally had a nice experience. The battery life seemed kinda meh with standard AA though, I went through an entire 40 pack from Costco with the group and still had to buy a couple but I suspect that's more to do with people in the group putting the devices in their bags or pockets.
Glad to hear location tracking worked well for you, especially when paired with the app. It’s helpful to hear how usage habits and device placement affected the experience between groups, and we appreciate you calling that out. Thanks as well for the notes on battery life, feedback like this helps us continue improving both performance and guidance for real-world use.
Crowd Compass was an absolute game-changer for my group at EDC. From start to finish, the support was top-tier, both online and in person. The Discord team was super responsive and thorough with troubleshooting, always quick to help with clear, actionable steps. But what really stood out was the on-site support. Nick was on the ground and super awesome, he knew my group and I were eager to get the most out of the experience, and when something wasn't working right, he wasted no time getting us replacements. That kind of attentiveness made a huge difference.
Functionally, the device saved us so much time over the weekend. The radar-like interface made it easy to find friends in the crowd without endless texting or wandering. The zoom feature helped us gauge how far someone was, so we could plan our meetups better instead of just guessing. Plus, the companion app kept our communication solid, sending alerts and texts through it ensured we never lost contact, even when cell service got spotty. It was honestly my primary mode of communicating anything to my group.
Overall, Crowd Compass made our EDC experience smoother, less stressful, and way more connected. Huge shoutout to Nick and the whole team for going above and beyond!
This means a lot to hear. We’re thrilled Crowd Compass helped keep your group connected at EDC and that both the app and radar experience made meetups easier and less stressful. Huge appreciation for calling out the Discord team and Nick’s on-site support, making sure you’re set up for success is always the priority. We’re glad it became a reliable part of your weekend and truly elevated the experience.
My group and I bought a pack of 4 crowd compasses, setting them up was a bit of a struggle (firmware updates kept crashing the phone app, but as long as u just keep retrying by restarting both the app and the compass itself, itll eventually work).
BUT i will say, in EDCLV itself they performed flawlessly. the in-app messaging worked wonders for our group and it gave me the confidence to split off from the group and go do my own sidequesting (i usually never sidequest). at some point our entire group split up to do our own sidequesting and use the compass to find each other and meet up for sets that we wanted to be together for
if you can power through the bugginess of the setup for the crowd compass, they are absolutely a must have for anyone going to any major festival with poor signal and internet connection. i couldnt recommend it enough.
We appreciate you sharing such an honest and detailed review. While setup wasn’t as smooth as it should have been, we’re really glad to hear the compasses performed flawlessly once you were at EDC and gave your group the freedom to split up and reconnect with confidence. It’s awesome to hear they supported all the side-questing and meetups, and feedback like this helps us keep improving both the setup experience and the product overall.
Mixed feelings on mine leaning toward positive. Super positive for me was that the location tracking was very useful. My wife wandered off and lost us. I pulled up the app and was able see her location and last ping time, which meant I knew where she was and the last time it transmitted which was really helpful. The location does only update every couple minutes.
Battery life was great. I used rechargeable AA's and they lasted all night long. I would recharge them before the next day but felt I might have been able to get two days out of them.
Negative was the phone connectivity and messaging. The phone connectivity is meh at best. My wife's phone (pixel pro 9) hates connecting to the crowd compass and requires me to forget it as a Bluetooth device everytime. The phone connection can randomly stop working. This was a bummer for me because I just wanted to put the compass in my backpack and use my phone.
Also the messaging between devices is frustrating to me because there is no guarantee that they get the message and no indication if they did or not. I understand it because the device is just squeaking on the radio frequency and not talking to a server. But it really renders the messaging to be so questionable that it isn't useful. You literally have no idea if the message went through or was received.
Overall I found it added value for location tracking and finding of friends, but the messaging was less useful than I had hoped.
We appreciate you taking the time to share such a thoughtful and balanced review. It’s great to hear the location tracking proved valuable when it mattered and that battery life held up well through the night. We also hear your feedback around phone connectivity and messaging reliability, those are important areas we continue to focus on improving, and insights like yours help guide that work. We’re glad Crowd Compass added value overall and appreciate you being open about both the strengths and limitations you experienced.
My wife and I used the crowd compasses this weekend and had issues the first day, but, after the firmware updates, they worked really well! We were able to find each other pretty easily over the next couple of days. We just had to calibrate them when we got to the speedway. The messages we were sending were going through really well on the second and third day! We figured out the issues we were having on the first day were partially due to the crowd compasses being in wilderness mode. We were able to find each other in a really crowded kinetic field, which was by far the greatest challenge we had all weekend. We are overall pretty satisfied with how well these worked! We would highly suggest getting some for either a pair or a group of people.
Glad to hear things clicked after the update! It’s great that the firmware update and calibration made such a difference and that you were able to find each other even in the most crowded areas like Kinetic Field. We’re happy the messaging improved as well and appreciate you sharing what helped, feedback like this is incredibly helpful for other users and for us as we keep improving the experience.

Really appreciate you sharing such a detailed EDC LV recap. It’s great to hear that once your group got past the initial learning curve, Crowd Compass performed accurately and reliably across the entire venue. Thanks for calling out calibration, pairing flexibility, and battery life, those real-world insights are incredibly valuable, and we’re thrilled it ended up being a game-changer for your festival experience.
